The Newburg-Glenburn volleyball team was made to navigate rough waters last week when it visited Rolette-Wolford on Tuesday before taking part in Glenburn’s invitational tournament on Saturday.
The Eagles entered the week with a 3-4-1 record after eight matches. After picking up two wins and three losses last week, though, N-W moved to 4-7-1.
They began the week by being swept in three sets against Rolette-Wolford in Rolette on Tuesday before losing the first of four matches in Glenburn on Saturday. Minot Bishop Ryan won the teams’ first match of the Glenburn tournament by winning 25-13 and 25-11 before Rugby downed the Eagles 25-14 and 25-21.
Similar to the first phase the Bottineau Early Bird Invitational that both Bottineau High and N-W played in two weeks ago, Glenburn’s tournament was made up of two-set matches.
After dropping those first two matches to Bishop Ryan and Rugby, N-W ended its week well by defeating both Towner-Granville-Upham (25-12, 25-20) and Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood (25-14, 25-20).
The Eagles would move closer to the .500 mark if they win both of their matches this week. N-W will visit Rolla on Tuesday before Dunseith comes to Newburg on Thursday.
