Area racing fans will have to wait a week longer than expected to find out who will join Lance Schill as this year’s kings of Bottineau’s dirt-track speedway.
Thunder Mountain Speedway (TMS) was set to hold its championship night last Sunday. However, due to heavy rains that drenched the city early Sunday morning, the decision was made to move the event back a week.
“It was an easy call,” TMS board member Matt Hunter wrote on TMS’s Facebook page on Sunday. “I’ve never seen (the track) that wet.”
The board had set aside this Sunday as a rain date should there have ever been the need for a rescheduled race this season. Racing will begin that afternoon at 4 p.m.
Schill has already wrapped up the 2014 TMS Wissota Midwest modifieds title. There is, however, a tight race for second place.
Sunday’s races will decide who between Chris Romfo and Steve Beckedahl will win the TMS sport stock title.
