In recent weeks, numerous local residents and business owners in Bottineau have complained about the smell of sewer within the community, which appears to be taken place due to recent summer weather.
According to the city, history has shown that when Bottineau has high temperatures and humidity, with strong south winds, the winds pick up the odor of the city’s lagoon and brings it into the community.
At times in the spring, the smell of the lagoon, which is located south of Bottineau, comes into the city. However, in recent weeks the unpleasant smell of the waste site has been strong and overpowering for some individuals, taking them into their homes or businesses not feeling well with headaches.
With fall’s approach, the smell should dissipate.
