Dakota College at Bottineau (DCB) didn’t waste much time naming a new men’s basketball coach and athletic director.
In fact, one person new to the school will be taking over both positions.
Brandon Colvin signed last Friday the paperwork necessary to officially make him the holder of those two roles. He was most recently the head men’s basketball coach at Minnesota State Community and Technical College in Fergus Falls, Minn.
Colvin spent one year at the helm with Spartans, which finished their 2013-14 campaign with a 13-14 overall record.
The MCAC will become more familiar to DCB fans in the fall. The Lumberjacks’ football program is joining the conference in the fall and will play its first league game at home against Minnesota West Community and Technical College on Aug. 23.
Before arriving in Fergus Falls, Colvin’s career took him to Europe and the Middle East. Between May of 2009 and December of 2012, he coached basketball teams in Qatar, Denmark and Bahrain.
Colvin is also a former assistant coach at North Dakota State College of Science.
On the AD side at DCB, Colvin takes over for former AD Scott Johnson. Johnson resigned from the post effective June 30, but he will stay on at the college as a math professor.
Former DCB men’s basketball coach Cory Fehringer accepted the same position at Williston State on May 22.
