An estimated crowd of 500 people braved Saturday morning’s heavy rains to take part in Metigoshe Ministries’ 32nd annual quilt auction.
The front hall inside the organization’s Christian Center on the south bank of Lake Metigoshe was the venue for the event. It was packed not only by people looking to bid on the items on display, but also by the items themselves.
In all, 191 quilts were listed to be auctioned off at the event. Darrel Graber of Rolette volunteered as the event’s auctioneer.
The majority of the items at the quilt auction were sold off by Graber and the Metigoshe Ministries staffers on hand, but many other items were sold by way of silent auctions. On top of the quilts sold on Saturday, 79 other items such as sculptures, stained glass art pieces and framed photos were bid upon.
Proceeds from the auction go toward Metigoshe Ministries camp scholarships and stipends for summer staffers.
