The Dakota College at Bottineau Lumberjack hockey team was recently named the 2012-13 NJCAA Academic Team of the Year for hockey.

“We needed this as a momentum builder towards next year,” stated Jacks head coach Travis Rybchinski. “I am really happy about receiving this award as many players worked hard to achieve this award.”

For each sport the NJCAA awards the team with the highest GPA in their sport as team of the year.

The minimum GPA for consideration is 3.00. All of the NJCAA Academic Team of the Year can be found on www.njcaa.org.

“We emphasize the student part of the student-athlete. The majority of our student-athletes were honor roll students throughout the year and put many hours in at the study table,” Rybchinski stated. “I hope that success in the classroom will lead to success on the ice. We want to thank our sophomores and wish them luck in the future and we are excited with the group we have back.”

Sophomore moving on from last year’s team include: Nick Sutton, Seth Serhienko and Robin Danielsson.
